August 1st

Date Night: Lake Tahoe Shakespeare Festival: The Fantasticks

At 7:30 pm, catch The Fantasticks, the world's longest running musical. A charming and romantic musical about one young couple, two “feuding” fathers and an infinite love that transcends over time, The Fantasticks whimsically whisks audiences on a journey of imagination into a world of moonlight, magic and memory. Along the way, love is found, lost and rediscovered again after a poignant realization that “without a hurt, the heart is hollow.”

Family Fun: Lake Tahoe SummerFest: Family Concert

The Lake Tahoe SummerFest kicks off July 31st with 17 days of musical performances. On Saturday, August 1st, the festival offers a free community concert for families to enjoy the music of Beethoven. This is an interactive and entertaining concert where you'll meet the fascinating composer Ludwig van Beethoven and experience how his life, struggles, and music touch our lives today. The focus is on fun and discovery! Audience members can meet the SummerFest musicians, learn about their instruments and how they play them, and hear the orchestra performing the music of Beethoven. Afterwards there is the chance to ask questions, enjoy treats, and even be photographed with favorite musicians. It’s a journey of discovery which ends in having the creative genius 'Ludwig' become your new best friend!is a place to enjoy beautiful music and food. Kids: Children’s Environmental Science Day

From 12:30 to 3:30 at Commons Beach in Tahoe City, kids can come experience a day of hands-on knowledge and environmental science. Activities are designed to create an awareness of the unique ecology of Lake Tahoe and provide an opportunity for young and old alike to learn about environmental and Earth science. Expect games, face painting, educational activities, and more!
