STRONG WINTER BENEFITS TAHOE REAL ESTATE MARKET

The 2016 Lake Tahoe real estate market starts strong as favorable winter conditions have piqued Tahoe real estate interest. In our 2016 first quarter market report, all micro-regions analyzed show a year over year increase in median price. Four of the five markets saw an increase or flat trends to number of units sold, however all markets showed sales volume within top four best years since 2006. Truckee saw the most growth with a 45% increase in number of units sold in Q1 year over year, making it the highest sales volume in over 10 years, along with a 12% increase in median price.

With snowfall above average for the season and Lake Tahoe’s water level nearing its natural rim, we are excited to see the significant impact on the Q1 real estate market. We are optimistic this trend will continue into the summer, when the lake level will once again accommodate summer attractions that draw both tourism and interest to the area.
