IRIE Rafting Company grew out of a young man's love of rivers and the outdoors, and his desire to share that with others. After traveling the world and exploring some of the most remote, and what were then considered un-runnable rivers, owner and operator Frank Wohlfahrt decided to turn his passion into an ecologically and socially responsible business. For 15 years, IRIE has taken people just like you down California's scenic and exciting whitewater rivers. They specialize in family-friendly Class III, more adventurous Class IV, and the heart-pounding Class V rivers.
Half Day and Full Day trips are available on the Truckee River.
The half-day whitewater rafting trip on the Lower Gorge of the Truckee River is offered twice daily and is great for families and groups. The Truckee River begins with relaxing Class II boulder gardens and swimming pools and increases in intensity. Half way through the trip, the rapids become larger and closer together until you reach the top of the Floriston Gorge. The river narrows, becomes steeper, and descends its last mile through a series of several Class III and III+ rapids named Jaws Rapid and Bronco Rapid. Hang on!
They provide transportation to and from our office in Truckee. Cold drinks are provided at the end of your trip, as well as PFDs, paddles, and helmets. Two white water rafting trips daily at 9 am and 1:30 pm
