Tahoe City is looking pretty scary these days with all the scarecrows, ghosts, and goblins hanging around town in preparation for Halloween.  Our own scarecrow in a snow bank is decidedly less than frightening, unless you think about all the shoveling that might be happening this winter if El Nino hits! Be sure to cast your vote for your favorite five scarecrows by downloading a ballot from the Tahoe City Downtown Association. You could win a $25 gift certificate just for voting!

If you're going to be around town for Halloween this year, check out this list of  events scheduled for October 31st:

  • Village-at-Squaw Trick or Treating: 12noon-6pm
  • Tahoe City Trick or Treating: 4pm-6pm
  • Halloween at Jake's on the Lake: Enjoy an extended Happy Hour from 4:30pm-9pm, and then show off your costume at the Halloween Party starting at 10pm with DJ Ryu.
  • River Ranch Halloween Bash: River Ranch will be serving Smashed Pumpkin Punch and complimentary appetizers from 6:30pm-8:30pm. There will also be a costume contest.
  • Le Chamois Halloween Party: This local's favorite on Halloween (and for apres-ski the rest of winter ) kicks of their party at 8pm out in Squaw Valley. Music from DJ Blue42 starts at 9pm, and costumes are of course encouraged!
  • Crystal Bay Creepers Ball: Tainted Love takes center stage at 9pm in the Crown Room for this Halloween bash. Must be 21, and tickets are $25.
