Soak up the perfect corn skiing while we still have blue skies, we have weather on the way!

With two storm systems moving in, we’re looking at the potential for a big snowy weekend!!  Between the snow and activities lined up, there’s no reason NOT to be here this weekend. SnowFest kicks off! Between the uniquely Tahoe events and all of the parties, there is something for everyone to enjoy.

Friday night the festivities launch with fireworks and a torchlight parade at Squaw Valley. Saturday’s line-up includes a pancake breakfast, the SnowFest parade through Tahoe City, and the 25th annual Polar Bear Swim. Water temperature is forecasted at around 57 degrees. If you can’t face the swim, the spectating is pretty entertaining. Saturday’s activities include way too many parties and music to mention, but visit the event schedule to find something to suit you and your family! Dog lovers unite for Sunday’s dog pull event. Always entertaining this fun community event shows us which dogs can tow kegs and which pups have trouble with directions! The Mountain Man contest guarantees some giggles as we watch men take on quintessential Tahoe challenges like shoveling, putting on chains, and climbing a giant berm - all while wearing ski boots. Also on tap for this weekend is the Rahlves Banzai Tour’s second stop at Squaw Valley. If you haven’t seen this race before, there’s nothing quite like it. It’s a race to the bottom over natural terrain. Call it extreme skiing meets boarder cross.  There are gates to make, but that’s about the only rule!  This is a 4 race series that culminates with the top skiers and riders racing off against Olympians Daron Rahlves and Nate Holland for a huge prize purse, so you are guaranteed to be witnessing some of our area’s boldest athletes charging the mountain.

Events may be affected by the weather, but hey, if things are getting cancelled by storm weather, it means you are here for the storm!!!
