Boat Inspection Stations & Boat Launch Options

Boat Inspections - All Boats Must Be Inspected Before Launching in Lake Tahoe

As of Friday, May 1, three inspection stations are open 8:30am - 5:30pm daily during the boating season:

  • Alpine Meadows: Highway 89, off Alpine Meadows Road north of Tahoe City (Note: there is currently construction on the Alpine Meadows bridge. Delays are possible)
  • Spooner Summit: at the junction of US 50 and Highway 28 in Nevada
  • Meyers: at the junction of US 50 and Highway 89

Scheduled to open Thursday, May 21st:

  • Highway 267 at Airport Road near Truckee Tahoe Airport - During the season, this station will only be open 8:30am - 5:30pm Thursday-Sunday only

In 2015, the district will not operate a station at Homewood. The Highway 267 location is replacing the former station at Northstar California.

Annual inspection fees remain unchanged from 2014.

  • The “Tahoe In & Out” sticker ranges from $35 for personal watercraft and vessels under 17 feet up to $121 for vessels longer than 39 feet
  • The “Tahoe Only” sticker fee is $30
  • An additional fee of $35 is charged for any boat requiring decontamination
  • An additional $10 fee for the decontamination of ballast tanks or bags

  • Daily: $15 CA Resident, $20 Out of State
  • Annual Pass: $215 CA Resident, $325 Out of State
  • Summer Pass: $195 CA Resident, $275 Out of State

  • Open to IVGID picture pass holders with beach access and their guests
  • 7am-8pm
  • Reservations Only
  • Boats under 23' ONLY - Limitations may be further restricted as water level lowers
  • $17 per visit 
  • $145 for a season pass

  • No launch ramp-uses gantry lift
  • 22’ and under: $90/each way
  • 23’ and above: $109 each way
  • Buoys and Slips - Possible openings for nightly or weekly rental, but unlikely

Tahoe City Marina 530.583.1039

  • No launch ramp - Uses forklift, gantry lift or travel lift depending on the length of the boat
  • 25’ and under: $45 each way
  • Anything over 25’ will be charged by the foot: $5 per foot with gantry and $12 per foot with travel lift (big boats)

  • $20 each way or $30 round trip same day
  • Over 39': $50 each way
  • $300 Season pass
  • No buoys or slips available

Meeks Bay Marina 530.525.6946 

  • TBD: Waiting to hear if ramp will be open - usually you can rent a slip by the night or week- first come first serve
