Is there a better way to commemorate a fabulous Tahoe summer than to sail around Lake Tahoe at sunset? The TLUXP crew, with family and friends, had a blast on the Sierra Cloud catamaran on Friday. The Sierra Cloud is a 55ft boat that can hold up to 49 people, available for charters out of the Hyatt Resort in Incline Village. The crew was amazing, very friendly, and everything from hors d’oeuvres to desert, plus beer and wine, was just perfect. Now, with summer winding down, Tahoe is a little quieter, and the weather is a little cooler. For many, this is their favorite time of year. Time to take the hikes you didn’t get around to in July and August, or the mountain bike ride you skipped when it was too hot, and we even get some nice foliage before the snow falls! ~Neil

After work, a bunch of us got together at the River Grill in Tahoe City (conveniently located next door to our office!) to say goodbye to our co-worker, Shannon, and to wish her well. Shannon has been working for TLUXP for a few years now and we are really going to miss her. She and her husband are moving back to the Bay Area to be closer to family. While at the River Grill, we sat around the fire pit on the outside the deck, visited, and listened to some great music. It was happy hour, so we took advantage of some great deals and delicious apps. You have to try the sliders (mini burgers with cheese) and the calamari. They are the best at the lake! The atmosphere is ideal and the location, sitting over the Truckee River, is charming. From there, we headed to Alpine Meadows Ski Resort, where there was an outdoor concert. Jim Messina and Dave Mason played to a huge crowd right under the Kangaroo chairlift. It was great to hear all the old Traffic tunes. They finished the encore set with “Feelin’ Alright!” Everyone was on their feet. It was great. What a way to end a starry night on the mountainside.
The Luxors win both games of their double header softball night! TLUXP plays in a coed softball league on Friday nights. If you are ever in town on a Friday night looking for something fun to do, come watch the locals play Z League softball! The games are held at Conner Field, which is right behind the Pharmacy in the middle of Tahoe City. After the games, the teams head over to Pete and Peter’s, a local sports bar, for their 2 for 1 drinks and to maybe get their name in for the drawing at the end of the season. The winner of the drawing gets a trip to Hawaii! Pete and Peter’s is a fun spot to shoot pool or darts, play shuffleboard, foosball and socialize. Ask any local and they can direct you there. See you at Pete’s!
