The 2010 Winter Olympics have begun, and several local Tahoe athletes are in Vancouver competing throughout the next two weeks.

While uncooperative weather has postponed many of the alpine racing events, the women's freestyle skiing did go ahead last night as scheduled. Tahoe City native, Shannon Bahrke, took home her second career Olympic medal, earning bronze with an incredible run! Congratulations Shannon!

As soon as the alpine events get going, keep an eye out for Squaw Valley local, Julia Mancuso, racing in the women's downhill and combined events. Another Tahoe City native, Marco Sullivan, will race in the men's downhill. Julia already has one gold medal under her belt from the Torino Winter Games and is looking to earn another in Vancouver.
