Tahoe Life

Looking for a creative, fun, and unique-to-Tahoe way to celebrate Father’s Day? We’ve come up with a few options for activities that help you and the dads in your life spend some special time together.

Lunch with a View

Take dad to Squaw Valley and ride the aerial tram up to High Camp. You can use a season pass for access, or buy day passes to the tram. 550-feet above some of Tahoe’s most iconic ski slopes, you can view the scene, and ascend to 8,200-feet, where panoramic views await. The Granite Bistro Café is open for lunch 11am to 3pm on Father’s Day. Updated American classics like the high camp burger or high camp wings are available, along with new creations like smoked pheasant soup, as well as a hefty beer and wine menu.

Golf and Brunch

Book a tee time at Northstar’s scenic golf course, with immaculate greens designed by world-renowned architect Robert Muir Graves. Then, enjoy a meal at Martis Valley Grille, voted the “most beautiful outdoor restaurant in truckee.” The Grille is especially known for Sunday mimosas and brunch, and nestled right alongside the golf course, making it easy to dine and play a round.

Boating on Lake Tahoe

Get out on Lake Tahoe. Rent or charter powerboats, sailboats, kayaks, jet skis or paddeboards! Get onto the Lake for some sunshine and family fun. You can even try waterskiing or wakesurfing! One particularly scenic choice for a boating adventure is to head towards Emerald Bay, where the clear waters are extra blue. Finish the day with evening drinks at one of Tahoe’s several boat-up establishments, complete with boat valet. Grab a wet woody at Gar Woods in Carnelian Bay or a chambers punch at Chambers Landing in Homewood, to name a few.

Father’s Day Celebration Dinner

Incline Villages’ Thunderbird Lodge National Historic Site is a historic landmark that remains a preservation of Tahoe culture past. It is not government funded, making this a landmark-at-risk. The Father’s Day Celebration dinner is one of many summertime events hosted by the preservation society, to continue caring for the lodge. This is a great way to treat dad to a little piece of history, plus a great meal. Chef Darren Weston will create a multi-course meal paired with some of the world’s finest spirits, in this seated event served in the Lighthouse Room.
