Did you know that every year, during the holidays, Santa Claus spends some time in his favorite winter wonderland-North Tahoe and Truckee? He can be found at holiday celebrations in the area, or making turns in the fresh white-Christmas powder. Here’s our list (and we’ve checked it twice) of where to find Santa this holiday season.

Squaw Valley | Alpine Meadows

Bring the family for story time with Santa. Santa will be sharing traditional Christmas stories, songs, and folklore as well as his milk and cookies for all to enjoy at Bar One or Alpine Lodge during the following times:

Diamond Peak

Santa and Penguin Pete will be at Diamond Peak from 11am-1p handing out stickers and treats and visiting the kids and kids at heart. Granlibakken

Celebrate the holidays and Tahoe’s rich history at Granlibakken’s annual Torchlight Parade. Granlibakken was the host to the 1932 Olympic Ski Jumping Trials, and follow a similar route as the athletes of yesteryear when you ski down Granlibakken’s Ski Hill, holding your own torch, on Christmas Eve. The Torchlight Parade is followed by hot chocolate, mulled cider, s’mores, and gifts and photos with Santa. This event is free and open to the public on December 24.
