Required County STR Permit Information
Important: This home is only available for 31+ night bookings! Please inquire about details.
Wovoka is spectacular estate set along the crystal clear waters of Lake Tahoe’s East Shore and named after the Northern Paiute leader born in Nevada in 1856 and credited with developing the tribal Ghost Dance across the west. In keeping with the native culture, this lakeside residence incorporates and embraces natural elements reflecting peace and harmony. Truly one of a kind, Wovoka is an architecturally acclaimed property blending extensive custom woodwork, angled teak windows and doors, massive scale timbers, textured surfaces and stone reflecting the natural rugged beauty of its surroundings. The technical complexity and skill required to complete this home was at the very highest level of the trades. The property was painstakingly designed and constructed over 17 years, with each and every minute detail considered. For example, according to the architect, copper was intentionally chosen due to its natural ability to transition in harmony with the landscape and the seasons. Over time, copper transforms from a metallic reddish orange to a penny-brown to a verdigris-green that matches, in turn, the sunlight, tree trunks and foliage. The copper work at Wovoka was hand forged and used strategically. The main house is enveloped by a copper roof, atop the chimney is a nine-foot copper finial designed in the angular Wovoka motif, the teak front door is surrounded by inlaid copper panels and is topped by a copper-framed window, custom copper panel garage doors with overlapping batten details and colored-glass diamond windows provide a rich and long lasting facade.
The exterior setting is simply exquisite. An elaborately gated entrance leads to a private drive that meanders down lavishly landscaped gardens welcoming guests with a beautiful waterfall, creek and pond. Stone walkways lead guests to a grand, lakeside patio with a salt-water infinity edge pool, built-in bar-b-que and sandy cove protected by a breakwater jetty. An expanisve sun deck above the boat house has built-in heaters for evening relaxation and comfortable patio furnishings. The impressive 535 square foot boat house with Wovoka expertly carved into the stone distinguishes this home from all other lakefront properties in Lake Tahoe.
Inside the main house, guests are treated to three geometrically stunning bedrooms suites. The primary suite offers "his and her's" bathrooms and closets, a cozy sitting area in front of a soaring stone gas fireplace and a custom door leading to the lake. A media room, gourmet kitchen with a butler's pantry, an open dining area, a family room with a TV / fireplace / foosball table, a great room with a massive, custom stone fireplace and 19-foot floor-to-ceiling windows framing panoramic views of the lake round out the main house. A lakeside cottage offers a king bed, bathroom, kitchen and living area. The tower residence attached to the garage with a separate entrance has two-stories of living space, one bedroom, kitchenette and full bathroom.
The garage features six separate bays, including a mechanical systems area, refrigerator and a half bath, while the property boasts a whole-house generator, sprinkler system, and water intake from Lake Tahoe. A smart home system is incorporated within the estate. Lastly, the 16-inch concrete insulated walls, radiant heated stone floors, native granite aggregate, a "Totem Wet Bar" and wall hung bookcases and shelves of teak and glass, custom cabinetry in Western Red Cedar with special detailing, back lit wall hangings, etched designs in lighted mirrors, and hand hewn logs are just a few of the finer points that will carry the spirit of the house for generations to come.
Lake Tahoe’s East Shore boasts sunsets across the Lake and Sierra Nevada Mountains, with a dry micro-climate and privately owned beaches exclusive to the Nevada side of the lake. This coveted shoreline is less developed, with easy access to airports, minutes to Heavenly Ski Area, Edgewood Tahoe Golf Course, and world class dining, gaming and entertainment. Discover Lake Tahoe’s four-season lifestyle and natural beauty in one of the Lake’s most spectacular settings!

- Maximum Occupancy: No gatherings, events, weddings or other group functions with more people than the number of persons stated on your signed agreement are allowed at the property.
- Parking: Parking on the street is prohibited at all times. All cars, boats, and trailers must be parked in the garage and/or driveway.

Per the ordinance: No sound from the vacation rental home shall be audible from the parcel line during this time. Noise shall be minimized in order that it not be an unreasonable annoyance, disturbance or nuisance to neighbors.
- Lights Out: All exterior lights that are not needed for safety must be turned off between the hours of 10pm-7am, seven days a week. Per the Ordinance: All exterior lights must be turned off that are not needed for safety or other outdoor use to the extent that such other outdoor use is not an unreasonable nuisance to neighbors.
- Red Flag Warnings: Due to extreme fire danger, bonfires, charcoal barbecues and wood-burning fire pits are strictly prohibited. On Red Flag Warning Days, when fire hazards are especially dangerous, typically due to dry conditions and high winds, additional restrictions are imposed by the North Tahoe Fire Protection District and prohibited. You cannot use outdoor gas grills or gas fire pits during Red Flag Warnings. All outdoor fires are prohibited, both gas and wood. It is your responsibility to be informed of Red Flag Warnings. Tune in to 1630AM on the radio; follow North Tahoe Fire Protection District on Facebook or Twitter; or, look for signs in front of all district fire stations. Red Flag Warning days will also be noted on the National Weather Service weather reports. If you ever have questions regarding Red Flag Warnings, please call our office.
Be Bear Aware
Black bears are very common in this area and have become habituated to human food and garbage. Because bears no longer have a strong fear of humans, you may encounter bears during your spring, summer and fall stays. Feeding bears is illegal. Leaving food outside, trash accessible, or doors and windows unlocked is likely to cause significant property damage to homes and to vehicles. Please take a moment to learn how to be Bear Aware, so that we can continue to live in harmony with our wildlife.
Receiving Mail and Packages
The U.S. Postal Service does not deliver to most homes/street addresses in this area, and packages will be returned to sender. If you require a postal delivery during your stay, we recommend FedEx or UPS. If you would like to receive deliveries prior to your arrival, please call our office and arrange to have deliveries made to our office address. Please never have food delivered to the homes, unless someone is in residence to receive the package. Food left outside will attract wildlife and bear activity, which can result in significant damage.
Summer Patio Furniture
Patio furniture is available for your use during summer months only. All outdoor tables, chairs and loungers are put into storage in the fall, in order to protect the furnishings from winter weather. Barbecue grills, however, do remain outside for your enjoyment.
Winter Driving
Many highways, access roads and/or driveways are steep in Tahoe/Truckee and may be icy in the winter. To ensure your safety, it is critical that during November 1st - April 30th brakes, windshield wipers, defroster, heater and exhaust system are in top condition. Tires need to be properly inflated and the tread must be in excellent condition. Always carry tire chains, even if driving an AWD/4WD vehicle. Make sure the chains are the proper size for your tires and are in working order. You may find valuable winter driving tips from the CHP here.
